Buying a new machine does not mean buying a safe machine. The CE marking applied by the manufacturer certifies that the product was designed in compliance with European directives, but it does not guarantee that it is truly safe and suitable for the specific use intended in your company, nor that the technical documentation is complete and correct. What the inspection service includes
The MTM service for newly acquired machinery includes two main elements:
- On-site technical inspection: MTM consultants examine the machine to verify its compliance with applicable regulations, the completeness of the documentation, and its suitability for the intended use.
- Detailed report: a written document containing technical observations, any non-conformities found, and operational instructions for adjustment.
Upon request, MTM also provides preventive support during the design or purchasing phase, allowing compliance to be assessed even before the machine is delivered and technical clauses to be included in the supply contract.
Why CE marking is not enough
Many employers and purchasing managers believe that CE marking is an absolute guarantee, but it is not. CE marking certifies a presumption of conformity: the manufacturer declares that the machine complies with applicable directives and regulations. However, it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that the machine actually complies with essential safety requirements before making it available to workers and that it is suitable for the intended use in their specific production context. In the event of an accident, this responsibility does not transfer to the manufacturer.
